Who Chooose is for
Chooose is a group decision app made by CER LLC. Somebody sets up a question, sends a link to their own friends, and everyone picks. This page explains why it carries the age rating it does, what people are able to write in it, and — the part that matters most to a parent — who is able to reach whom.
The short version. Chooose is rated 13+ and is not for children under 13. It is a private app: a Chooose only reaches the people the creator sends the link to. There is no chat, no feed, no followers, no profiles to browse, and no way for a stranger to find or contact anyone.
The rating
13+ on the App Store. Teen on Google Play. Two things put it there.
- People write their own topics. Any app where one person writes something another person reads is rated for that, regardless of what is actually written.
- Mild content in the shared topic library. The app ships with a library of topics to pick from. Some touch on dating and crushes, some on horror films and haunted houses, and a small number mention alcohol in passing. Nothing in it is explicit, and there is no violence, no gambling and no sexual content.
We have declared both to Apple and Google rather than rounding them down. An app that under-declares gets rated by the store instead, which helps nobody.
Who can reach whom
This is the question worth answering properly, because it is where most apps actually create risk and where Chooose is built differently.
| Finding people | There is no directory, no search, no suggested people and no public list of anything. A Chooose is reached by opening a link, and the only way to get that link is for the creator to send it to you. |
| Messaging | There is none. No chat, no direct messages, no comments, no replies. The only thing a voter can do is vote, and optionally type a name to appear beside their vote. |
| “Members” | The people listed in a group are names the creator typed in for their own use. They are not accounts and they are not invitations — we never contact them, and nobody is added to anything. |
| Voters | Voting happens in a web browser with no account at all. A voter has no profile, cannot be followed, and cannot be contacted through Chooose by anyone, including us. |
| Leaving | The creator can remove any member or delete a group outright. Deleting takes the group’s Choooses and their votes with it. |
The practical effect: there is no mechanism in Chooose by which an unknown adult can reach a young person. That is a design decision, not a setting, so it cannot be turned off by accident.
What people can write
Creators write the question and the options, the name of a group, and the names of the people in it. Voters may type a display name when they vote — and if the Chooose was set to anonymous, we never store it and every vote is simply labeled “Voter 2” and so on.
Everything written is seen only by the people holding that Chooose’s link. Nothing a user writes is published anywhere public, indexed by a search engine, or shown to anyone outside the group it was written for.
How content is kept in check
The shared topic library
The topics the app offers are written and checked by us before they ship. The app cannot pull topics in from the internet, so there is no path by which unvetted content appears in front of anyone.
What people write themselves
Anything a person writes and publishes passes a screen that blocks slurs and sexual content involving children. We will be straightforward about what that is and is not: it is a narrow block on the worst material, not a profanity filter. Chooose is built on friends being honest with each other, and an app that rejected mild language would be broken and would be worked around in seconds. The screen exists to stop the material that has no defence.
Reporting
Anything in a Chooose can be reported from the voting page, with no account and no sign-in. Reports are read by a person, and content that breaks our terms is removed. Reporting is deliberately available to voters, because a voter is often the person who sees the problem first.
You can also email support@choooseit.com at any time, whether or not you use the app.
What Chooose never does
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. Avatars are emoji, not photographs — we never ask for or store a picture of anyone.
- No tracking across other apps or websites, by us or by anyone else.
- No selling or sharing of personal information. Ever, and never has been.

If you are a parent or guardian
If you believe someone under 13 has an account, or you want something removed, email support@choooseit.com and we will act on it. We do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13, and we will delete it if we find we have.
An account holder can delete everything themselves from Settings → Delete account, or by following the steps at choooseit.com/delete-account. It removes the account, the groups, and every Chooose and vote with them, immediately and permanently.
Changes
If the app changes in a way that affects any of this, we will update this page and the date at the top, and re-declare the rating with both stores.
