Child Safety Standards
Chooose has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page sets out what we prohibit, what the app is built to make impossible, how to report something, and what we do when a report arrives. It is published because Google Play’s Child Safety Standards policy requires it, and because anyone should be able to read it before they let someone use the app.
To report child sexual abuse material or the exploitation of a child in Chooose: use the report control on any Chooose and choose “Child sexual abuse or exploitation”, or email support@choooseit.com with the link. A report of this kind removes the Chooose from view immediately, before anyone reviews it.
What is prohibited
The following are banned outright and are grounds for immediate removal and a permanent ban, with no warning and no appeal:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form.
- Any sexualization of a minor, including in text, a name, or a question.
- Grooming, solicitation, sextortion, or any attempt to make contact with a child for a sexual purpose.
- Trafficking of a minor, or facilitating it.
- Content that normalizes, promotes or trivializes any of the above.
This applies to everything a person writes in Chooose: questions, options, hot takes, tier sets, group names, member names and the name a voter types when voting.
What the app makes impossible
The strongest protections here are structural rather than editorial — they are things the product cannot do, rather than rules we enforce afterwards.
| No images | Chooose has no image, video or file upload of any kind, anywhere. There is no mechanism by which CSAM could be uploaded to or shared through this app. Avatars are emoji chosen from a fixed list. |
| No messaging | There is no chat, no direct messages, no comments and no replies. There is no private channel through which a person could contact another. |
| No strangers | There is no directory, no search, no friend suggestions and no public feed. A Chooose is reached only by a link its creator sent. Nobody can discover, browse or approach another person through Chooose. |
| No profiles | Voters have no account and no profile. There is nothing for anyone to look at, follow, or message. |
| Age | Chooose is rated 13+ and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly allow under-13 accounts and delete them when we learn of one. |
Taken together: there is no route in Chooose by which an unknown adult can reach a child, and no way for imagery to enter the product at all.
Reporting, in the app
Every Chooose carries a report control on every screen, usable by anyone who can see the content — including voters, who have no account and are not asked to make one. “Child sexual abuse or exploitation” is a named reason in that list, separate from other kinds of report.
A child safety report acts immediately: the Chooose is hidden from everyone the moment the report is made, rather than waiting for a second report or for a person to be awake. Every other category of report requires corroboration before anything is hidden. This one does not.
What we do when a report arrives
- Remove it from view immediately. Automatic, within seconds, before any human review.
- Preserve the content and the associated records rather than deleting them, so they are available to law enforcement.
- Review it promptly. Reports are read by a person at CER LLC.
- Report to the authorities. Where we become aware of apparent child sexual abuse material, we report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through the CyberTipline, as US law requires, and cooperate with law enforcement. Where a report concerns a person outside the United States, we report to the relevant national authority in addition.
- Ban the account permanently and delete the content once it is no longer needed for a preserved record.
Reporting outside the app
You do not need an account or the app to raise something with us. Anyone may email support@choooseit.com.
You can also report directly, and you do not need to go through us first:
- United States — NCMEC CyberTipline, report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.
- Elsewhere — the INHOPE network lists a hotline for most countries at inhope.org.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number first.
Who is responsible
CER LLC, a limited liability company registered in Kansas, United States. The child safety point of contact is support@choooseit.com, monitored by the company’s owner.
We comply with applicable child safety laws in the jurisdictions where Chooose is available, including 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and we keep these standards under review as the app changes. If a future version of Chooose adds anything that changes the picture above — images, messaging, or discovery of any kind — this page will be rewritten before that version ships.
